My passion to Yoga, Kundalini Tantra and Chakra tradition began one day in 1997, and it has never stopped. Although the road is not always smooth, the journey continues in the spirit of turning the wheel. And the WHEEL turns.....and turns. 
What I do here at Karmarati may not reflect any of the mainstream trends, but this is just what Karmarati community is all about: a group of people in search of practicing a way to transform and evolve beyond our limiting beliefs. All the traditional knowledge we learn and share here become the tools to dive-in to our core of existence. In the end, with our humble acceptance, we manage to be “there”. Yet, “there” is not so far away. The limiting beliefs we have usually capture and take us to a longer journey of finding home.

With an intention to share you my “home”, Karmarati was born. It will become your home too, if you let it be.

As much as possible, I have a silent day in each week. Well, obviously, not entirely silent because I have a few domestic things to take care of and the young one needs answers to all her questions.
Karmarati Studio is mostly closed during my "silent day".
In Vipassana tradition, this "silent" means completely silent, with no contact with the outer world, especially phones, internet and social media. When I took a course eleven years ago, silent days were included - we must be in a complete silent. Read more













A short note of self-discovery and a journey to the inner self.

The story behind me encountering chakra is quite a long story, with rocky and bumpy road here and there. But, one word to describe it is, magical.



No one actually knows why they are being directed to a certain destination, through a certain path, with a certain type of journey. Everyone has different experience, witness different beauty, meeting different angels, but in a rainbow highway, we all have the same destination: our true self. Read more




Karmarati conducted Chakra Psychology Intensive Program Batch I in January 2015. There were 19 participants joining and almost all completed the whole 16 hours program in four sessions. (I am very grateful for their participations and active involvement!) 
Some activities involved including theory of psychology of the Chakra System; self-empowerment technique (self-inquiry practices and yoga self-practice short sequence); discussion with current and up-to-date issues; chanting, pranayama and meditation. Read more








The last Community Chakra Workshop was held on Saturday, February 15, 2014. "Experiencing The First Three Chakras In Yoga Essential Practice". It involved pranayama, yoga asana, bioenergetic movement series, guided meditation and Chakra psychology discussion. Read more








The last community workshop this year at Karmarati Yoga was the Anahata Heart Chakra session on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
This was a beautifully mixed workshop that comprises yoga asana (postures), Anahata talk and discussion, visualization and guided meditation. Participants were encouraged to discover their Anahata, its colors and shape, as well as its nature and characteristics. The participants also worked on the assessment worksheets to map their Anahata’s psychological aspects. Read more





Partner Yoga is all about harmonizing and connecting the mind, the energy and the body with a partner. If we are unsettled in a difficult pose by ourselves, imagine doing it with somebody else. To a competitive or an over-achieving mind, this practice will be difficult, especially when the partner is weaker or less flexible. But, have we thought about our weaknesses too? Maybe, working with us is also not easy for our partner. Partner Yoga needs to begin with a sincere connection between two persons that are willing to compliment each other. Read more





As modern people, we may live mostly sitting on chairs or wearing (uncomfortable) high heels and shoes.  Having less outdoor walks and eating more prepared foods.  From time to time, we wish for fresh air to breathe and more time to walk.  Basically, we wish to come to the nature and return to the ground. 
In the modern world we live in, the sensation of grounding on our own two feet may often be neglected.  We may not have time to pay attention to our own “base”.  And when we are not well-grounded, our core may not be strong.  That all could lead to discomforts around our back muscles, and worse, the discomfort could spread up to our shoulders. Read more







Do you realize the position of your shoulders? Are they even - left and right?
Interestingly, we have lived with them all of our lives, but not noticing that uneven shoulders may (or may not) have caused certain discomfort. They have worked for us unconditionally, have carried our burdens, have been pushed and pulled so many times. They deserve a gentle treatment and must be well noticed. Well, actually, that is the simplest way of us saying 'thank you'. Read more








I never thought that teaching yoga to children and pre-teens could be very rewarding.  I had a few challenges in the past, especially with very young children.  For sure, overtime, I've tasted my sweet-lovely fruits as well.  But thinking of children could create their own yoga sequence?  Wow, that is beyond my expectation!  With a help from yoga deck "Yoga Pretzels" by Tara Guber and friends, the pre-teens yoga students made their pick.  And they were not choosing the easy poses for their convenience, too.  They chose a mix of breath exercise, warm-up poses, standing poses, winding down poses and relaxing poses as the final.  They did it just like a regular yoga class sequence and they counted their breaths as well. Read more







When I first joined a Restorative Yoga class, I melted like an ice cream in hot summer day.  It felt so sweet like that vanilla ice cream with caramel topping, guilt free!  Never thought yoga could be that delicious and super relaxing.  Very liberating.  It was like a treat to the whole Chakra system.  Like an opening to the tight areas around the shoulders and hips.  Like a generous gift to the tired legs and feet. We were celebrating (late) the birthday of our young member, Bianca. She has been practicing yoga with us for three years now! The free time post-session is always fun, too. Here, a little bit of arm wrestling could increase the intensity :-D. Read more










The girls of Young Teens Yoga just loved to hang around after the class and massage each other. Most of the time, they asked me to give them massage just before the class ends. Well, they were kinda cute saying that I should open a massage place because my massage feels good ;-). Oh, they sure know how to melt my heart!! Love them. Read more








Many have asked what does "Personal Practice Assessment" (on Karmarati's brochure and flier) mean and how does that affect our yoga practice. In Karmarati, Personal Practice Assessment is done on a one-on-one private session where the teacher guides the student to a standard sequence of yoga poses and assesses the issues experienced by the student. The issues could be tightness around the shoulder area, upper back and lower back problems, hip condition, balance, breath and concentration problem. Read more
